| I'd argue he's a better character than a lot of people say he is, but he is still a mid-tier protagonist. His personality is bland, his motives are about as uninteresting and shonen as they come, he's literally nowhere near best shonen MC status. You talk about Luffy and Naruto's strong, single-minded goals as if they're detrimental to their characters, but both of them have such well-developed personalities outside of their convictions that, even if you were to remove those convictions, they would still continue to be great characters. Remove Tanjiro's desire to turn his sister back into a human and you're left with nothing. |
